PLANET OF THE APES

The best of the summer movies and the purest.  Feels like the creative team made exactly the film they wanted to make.  Unusual for summer blockbuster fare in how the majority of the action is put off until the third act.  Tension is built effectively to this point -- each scene in the first half of the film moves it cleanly forward.  Elegant visual ideas abound.  James Franco is adequate as the human lead, Andy Serkis and the CGI team sensational as Ceasar, the lead chimp.
