LOST TREASURE: PETULIA (1968)
A bold film in attitude and execution -- it plays more contemporary than most of what's on screen today. Unforced yet powerful work by Julie Christie and George C. Scott makes this chilly, truthful film inescapable. Richard Lester's ahead-of-its-time flash cutting and time jumping amplifies the emotional punch. Nicholas Roeg's distanced, stylized cinematography is inseparable from the material. Tough stuff as mirrors can be, but a must watch. |
