I was one of 18 directors chosen to make a film for the Flywheel Film Festival. Flywheel is a consortium of primarily advertising people, the 18 shorts go together to form a loop. As per the festival rules, films can run between 1- 4 minutes, must be made for no money, and must start with an image that can be transitioned to from the prior film's end. Mine had to end with 'desperation', the theme/endpoint I drew from a hat. I wrote, produced, directed and edited the film.
Roads and Bridges
No budget, but just enough time to massage composition and movement. It was inspiring to work in the plains of the Midwest -- the landscape feels quintessentially American. The film and the cinematography won numerous festival awards. Presented by Robert Altman and played at the Angelika Film Center in NYC.
Production Company: Glick Films
Director: Abraham Lim
Proposition
Game cast and great helicopter pilot. The local crew we picked up to supplement some of the NY team was uniformly excellent. Limited theatrical release.
Production Company: Baton Rouge Film Project, LLC
Director: Brad Sanders
Whiskey River, NYC
We built the bar in an empty building in Red Hook, NYC. The director had been collecting pieces for the art direction for a year prior to shooting. I feel the film looks well above the budget level it was shot at.
Production Company: Iguana Films
Director: Thomas Hooper
Guys, Girls and Guns
Trailer for my NYU graduate thesis film. GGG won numerous festival awards worldwide, and appeared on several cable stations including the USA Network. I wrote, directed, and edited it.
